Walker Associates

In a career spanning almost 35 years Andy spent the early years in contracting, and local government engineering before entering private consultancy over twenty years ago.

He joined Walker Associates as a Senior Engineer in 1990, became an Associate in 1991, and an equity Partner in 1993, transferring to the position of Director when the company became incorporated in 2003.

He has been the engineer in charge of numerous projects for a variety of clients up to over £100m in value, including a prestigious new build RC framed headquarters building in Bournemouth, heavy structural refurbishment of RC framed offices in London, new build sports centre and swimming pools, new build RC framed residential buildings up to 25 storeys high, refurbishment and adaptation of historic buildings into residential accommodation, numerous residential, schools and healthcare projects of varying size in all forms of construction.

In his role as Director, he assumes overall responsibility for his team on a wide range of projects in various forms of construction, favouring a “hands on” approach, from conceptual decisions to points of detail. He is responsible for the strategic planning of the practice.

Andy is a Chartered Structural Engineer, has an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, and is a member of the Institution of Structural engineers, and a member of the Institute of Directors.
